Now, financing services are available from North American banks for U.S. and Canadian citizens who meet certain qualifications, for the purpose of purchasing, building or refinancing their Mexican home.

While the process is very similar to financing in the U.S. or Canada, qualification standards are stricter, as this is a relatively new offering. Coupled with the reduced bank liquidity and sensitivity of the financial markets, lending –while available—can be a challenge at this time.
